MAIDEN INTERACTION WITH TECHNOLOGY

17 Lower Basic School (LBS) teachers (participants-9 males and 8 females) out 2000  plus of the first cohort of the E-learning capacity building program on content, pedagogy and Information technology. (age ranging from ages 18-57) teaching pupils of ages 6 -12  had their maiden interaction with technology.
Most of the  students have no access to a computer at home and none at public schools. Others  have it but never interacted with it . Though most of  them  do not have computer skills, and feel a little bit afraid of having to work on a class discussion through Skype and the internet; however, the implementation week gave them the opportunity to practice and ask questions about things they do not understand or never experienced  before.

Building teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web has created an opportunity for the above mentioned lucky, committed and dedicated teachers. They responded to my invitation promptly and for 5 days without any transportation fares refund.

What they have learnt through the 5 days will be with them for a life time. The importance of this program cannot be overemphasized as it is geared towards the  reinforcement of  students´ communication and grammatical knowledge through a variety of online resources, to contribute to students´ independent learning and critical thinking skills, to develop students´ collaborative skills by learning to help others and provide assistance when needed, to develop students´ computer skills by learning how to use class Skype , internet, YouTube , etc. Thus, orienting and sensitizing educators  on the importance of technology in Education. Thus, life long learning!

The Gallery of photos below captured during the project implementation week
expressed the  excitement, eagerness and appreciation on  their faces:
