Week four reflection of Web skills Track Race

Track Race-On your marks get set!!!

Every process is like a race and the final destination is the achievement of the aims and objectives.

First of all I also want to tender my appreciation on the rules and mode of introduction  applied in week one of the race that has definitely created a conducive environment for all participants in the Web-skills Fall 2013 program. It was the week also where everybody’s appetite was stimulated with the research skills of creation and innovation of blogs and types and constructive comments  on each others.

In week two of the race, the creation of Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic  and Time bound(SMART) objectives  with the ABCD elements  and the exploration of the academic search engines, was very interesting and achievable .

In week three, the task on Delicious was really appetizing and delicious. For the first time I learnt that , a personal account could be created for saving favorable websites   that are organized in tags. Another dynamic topic in this week was the introduction of  the two skills in language listening (receptive)and speaking(productive).
The reading materials were very educative and technological oriented and catered for the needs of all settings and conditions. The  exploration of web sites to enhance the skills  building in the above mentioned skills of Aural/Oral for both teachers and students.
In this topic I became to appreciate the radio as still the an important technology tool for authentic listening practices especially through Radio stations such as BBC World Service (BBC) and Voice of America (VOA) which are constantly on-air and has reasonable financial implications in terms of power.

Week four presented the topics on writing and reading websites  to compliment the week three listening and writing skills of the four skills on  acquisition in and technology enhanced lesson plans on a silver plate for us. The integration of technology has really made lesson plans more child centered in terms of cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills development in teaching and learning. This is what is called quality teaching and learning.

Just set my feet on  the week five mark of the race  with its suitcase full of materials. I scanned through the readings on Project based Learning and Web Quests and I have  no doubt that, these will add value to the knowledge, skills and attitude that is to be  acquired.
